We wanted to reach out to you and share some news regarding our relationship with St. Joseph Medical Center. As many of you have become aware over the past few weeks, Dr. Spiers and Dr. Farris have decided to move on in their careers. Dr. Spiers and her family are moving to Florida and Dr. Farris has yet to decide on her next adventure. What you may not have yet heard is the recent decision St. Joseph Medical Center has made to close its birthing center as of October 31, 2016 (http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/article97471332.html). We are saddened at this news as we have enjoyed the best of working relationships with both Drs. Spiers and Farris as well as St. Joseph Medical Center.
So, this news begs the question: what hospital will New Birth Company partner with for our clients who risk out of our practice or for other reasons decide they would like to deliver at a hospital? We can tell you that we have been in discussions with Overland Park Regional Medical Center and their parent company, HCA, about partnering with them. We do hope to have news to announce in the next few days. However, until then, we are confident with our ability to continue utilizing Drs. Spiers and Farris and the supportive nursing staff at St. Joseph Medical Center.
We understand there will be many questions regarding this change. Please do not hesitate to reach out to a member of our leadership team. We continue to be overwhelmed by what a great blessing our New Birth Company team is to not only each other, but to our entire Kansas City community.
