Lisa joined New Birth Company in 2022. Prior to entering graduate school, she worked as a labor and delivery nurse and childbirth instructor for 18 years. In 2013, Lisa graduated with an MSN in Nurse Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University after completing her clinical internship within the Navajo Nation in northern Arizona. She brings ~30 years of experience in serving birthing families within various settings and levels of care, including rural community hospitals, urban/academic/university hospitals, accredited free-standing birth centers, and home births. Her professional interests include increasing access to community birth options, reducing healthcare disparities, and raising awareness of public health needs. Lisa and her husband, Jay, recently relocated to the Kansas City area, where 3 of their 5 adult children currently live, including 2 of their 3 grandchildren. When not immersed in birth work, Lisa enjoys traveling, reading, gardening, and gathering with friends and family for meals full of interesting conversation and laughter.
