New Birth Center Overland Park

Why Should I Choose New Birth Company?

We strongly believe in the birth center model for women in childbirth, as it not only empowers women and their babies, but is also an economic engine for supporting sustainable communities.

What is a New Birth Company Birth Center?

We believe natural childbirth is an awe-inspiring physical, emotional and spiritual experience that captures all senses of our bodily spectrum. Using sight, sound, smell, taste and touch, we enhance the birth experience. You will see soothing colors that make you smile. You will hear soothing music commissioned specifically for women and childbirth. You will smell natural scents such as lavender and comfrey. You’ll be offered a blueberry flax smoothie from the kitchen to keep up your energy during labor. A wise woman’s hands guides your body to choose its best position for birth. Our facility also provides clinic rooms for pregnancy visits and well woman care, as well as space for classes and community gatherings.

Attributes of Birth Centers

A free-standing birth center is a facility designed for safe, natural childbirth. Birth centers are optimized around birthing rooms that are designed, equipped and arranged to provide for the care of a mother, her newborn, and the mother’s support person(s) during and following childbirth. Birth Centers or “Houses of Birth” are common in most European countries. There are over 200 licensed birth centers in the United States providing natural birth services to low-risk women.

The birth center supports the practice of midwifery and the normal birth process, including:

• careful screening for potential complications

• honoring the mother’s needs and desires throughout labor

• assisting the mother in managing pain

• paying close attention to the mother and baby’s status in labor

Because they are not appropriate for use in normal labor, the birth center does not use certain interventions, such as:

• cesarean sections

• epidural

• continuous electronic monitoring

The birth center has a specific plan for transferring to a hospital if complications arise before labor, during labor, or after birth, and at any time if interventions are required to insure the safety of the mother and baby. We use electronic medical records to help insure the highest clinical and safety standards.
